Possible Causes

Disconnected or damaged salt level sensor cable, Corroded sensor contacts in brine tank, Sensor obstructed by salt bridging, Faulty salt level sensor module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the softener and wear gloves when working inside the brine tank.

Steps to troubleshoot E11 (Salt Level Sensor Fault):

  • 1. Inspect sensor placement: Open the brine tank and locate the electronic salt level sensor (if equipped). Ensure it is mounted at the correct height and not buried or jammed in hardened salt.
  • 2. Clear salt around sensor: Carefully remove salt around the sensor so it can move or sense properly. Break up any salt bridges or solidified salt masses.
  • 3. Check wiring: Trace the sensor cable from the brine tank to the control head. Ensure the connector is fully seated and the cable is not cut or pinched.
  • 4. Clean contacts: If the sensor has exposed contacts, gently clean them with a damp cloth to remove salt residue, then dry thoroughly.
  • 5. Replace sensor: If E11 persists, replace the SpringWell salt level sensor assembly. If a new sensor does not clear the error, the control head input may be defective.
