Possible Causes
Failed position encoder on SpringWell valve, Misaligned cam or rotor, Broken drive gear, Control board not reading encoder signal
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Bypass the softener and unplug it before working on the valve head.
Steps to troubleshoot E13 (Valve Position Error):
- 1. Observe valve movement: Remove the control cover and initiate a manual regeneration. Watch the cam/rotor and note if it stops mid-cycle or hunts for position.
- 2. Check encoder connection: Locate the position sensor or encoder on the drive assembly. Ensure its wiring harness is firmly connected to the control board.
- 3. Inspect for mechanical damage: Look for cracked cams, stripped gears, or loose set screws that could cause misalignment between the motor and valve.
- 4. Realign or replace encoder: If the encoder is misaligned, adjust it per SpringWell instructions. If damaged, replace the SpringWell valve position encoder or drive assembly.
- 5. Replace control head if needed: If mechanical parts and encoder are good but E13 persists, the control board may not be reading the signal correctly and the SpringWell control head should be replaced.
