Possible Causes
Valve piston binding due to debris, Worn or swollen seals in SpringWell valve, Failed drive motor drawing excessive current, Incorrect voltage from power adapter
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Bypass the softener, unplug it, and relieve water pressure before disassembling the valve head.
Steps to troubleshoot E15 (Motor Overload):
- 1. Check for mechanical binding: With the control cover removed and power disconnected, attempt to rotate the cam or rotor by hand. It should move smoothly with moderate resistance.
- 2. Inspect piston and seals: Remove the control head from the mineral tank. Disassemble the valve and inspect the piston, seals, and spacers for swelling, tearing, or heavy fouling. Replace using a SpringWell piston and seal kit.
- 3. Verify power adapter: Confirm the power adapter output voltage and amperage match SpringWell specifications. Replace the adapter if it is incorrect or unstable.
- 4. Replace drive motor: If the valve moves freely but the motor overheats or stalls, replace the SpringWell drive motor.
- 5. Replace control head if needed: Persistent E15 after mechanical and motor repairs may indicate a faulty current-sensing circuit on the control board, requiring replacement of the SpringWell control head.
