Possible Causes
Clogged inlet screen, Resin beads in plumbing, Collapsed distributor tube, Jammed piston or rotor in SpringWell valve
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately place the unit in bypass to restore water to the home. Then unplug the softener and relieve pressure before disassembly.
Steps to restore flow:
- 1. Inspect inlet screen: Remove and clean the inlet screen on the SpringWell control valve to remove sediment or debris.
- 2. Check for resin discharge: Look for resin beads in faucet aerators or showerheads. If present, the internal distributor tube or bottom screen may have failed.
- 3. Inspect valve internals: Remove the control head and examine the piston, seals, and internal ports for blockages. Clean and rebuild with a SpringWell piston and seal kit if necessary.
- 4. Inspect distributor tube: If resin has escaped, remove the media from the tank and inspect the SpringWell distributor tube and bottom basket. Replace damaged components and refill with new resin.
