Possible Causes

Drive motor failure, Jammed piston or rotor, Faulty control board timing, Obstruction in valve body

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Bypass the softener and unplug it. Relieve pressure by opening a downstream faucet.

Steps to free a stuck regeneration:

  • 1. Attempt manual advance: With power restored, try to manually advance the cycle using the REGEN or advance button. If the valve does not move, the drive system is likely jammed.
  • 2. Inspect drive motor and gears: Remove the control cover and observe the motor and gears while attempting to advance. Replace the SpringWell drive motor or gear set if they do not turn.
  • 3. Check for piston binding: With power off and pressure relieved, remove the control head and inspect the piston and seals for damage or debris. Rebuild with a SpringWell piston and seal kit if needed.
  • 4. Replace control head: If mechanical parts are free but the controller will not advance cycles, replace the SpringWell electronic control head.
