Possible Causes

Clogged injector/venturi, Salt bridge in brine tank, Brine line disconnected or blocked, Control not initiating regeneration cycles

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Bypass the softener and unplug it before removing any components. Wear gloves when working with salt.

Steps to restore salt usage:

  • 1. Check regeneration history: Review the control panel to see if regenerations have been occurring as scheduled. If not, correct the programming.
  • 2. Inspect for salt bridge: Probe the salt in the brine tank with a broom handle. Break up any hardened crust and remove loose chunks so water can reach the salt.
  • 3. Verify brine level change: During a manual regeneration, mark the brine level and check after 15–20 minutes of brine draw. If the level does not drop, brine is not being drawn.
  • 4. Clean injector and brine line: Remove and clean the SpringWell injector/venturi assembly and ensure the brine line is clear and properly connected.
  • 5. Service valve internals: If brine still is not drawn, rebuild the valve with a SpringWell piston and seal kit or replace the control head.
