Possible Causes
Loose plumbing fittings, Cracked control valve body, Damaged O-ring between valve and tank, Over-tightened or cross-threaded fittings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Immediately place the softener in bypass and unplug it. Use towels or a wet/dry vacuum to manage water. Do not overtighten plastic fittings.
Steps to stop external leaks:
- 1. Identify leak source: Dry the area and observe where water reappears—at the inlet/outlet fittings, tank neck, or control head body.
- 2. Tighten fittings: Gently snug any loose threaded fittings using appropriate tools. Do not overtighten plastic parts.
- 3. Replace O-rings: If leaking at the tank neck, remove the control head and replace the SpringWell tank O-ring. Lubricate with silicone grease before reassembly.
- 4. Inspect for cracks: If the valve body or tank is cracked, replace the SpringWell control valve head or mineral tank as appropriate.
