Possible Causes
High water pressure, Loose plumbing supports, Rapid closing of internal valve ports, Undersized or restricted drain line
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: High pressure can damage plumbing. Consider installing a pressure gauge and regulator if needed.
Steps to reduce banging noises:
- 1. Measure water pressure: Attach a gauge to a nearby faucet. If pressure exceeds SpringWell's recommended maximum (often around 80 psi), install or adjust a pressure-reducing valve.
- 2. Secure plumbing: Ensure pipes near the softener and drain line are properly strapped and supported to reduce movement.
- 3. Check drain line size and routing: Verify the drain line meets SpringWell's diameter and length guidelines and is not restricted or kinked.
- 4. Install water hammer arrestors: If hammer persists, install water hammer arrestors near quick-closing valves or the softener inlet.
