Possible Causes
Worn or damaged piston/seals, Debris lodged in valve seat, Misaligned cam or rotor, Incorrectly assembled valve after service
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Place the unit in bypass to stop the leak and unplug it. Route the drain line to a safe discharge point while troubleshooting.
Steps to correct continuous drain flow:
- 1. Confirm drain flow: With the unit in service (not regenerating), observe the drain line. Any steady flow indicates internal leakage.
- 2. Inspect piston and seals: Remove the control head and disassemble the valve. Look for cuts, wear, or deformation in the piston and seal pack.
- 3. Clean valve seats: Remove any debris or resin particles from the valve seats and internal passages.
- 4. Rebuild valve: Install a new SpringWell piston and seal kit, lubricating seals with silicone grease. Reassemble carefully according to SpringWell instructions.
- 5. Test operation: Restore water and power, then verify that the drain is dry during normal service and only flows during regeneration.
