Possible Causes
Clogged inlet/outlet strainers, Fouled resin bed causing channeling and restriction, Partially closed isolation valves, Kinked flexible hoses
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Close inlet and outlet valves and relieve pressure before disconnecting any plumbing.
Steps:
- Compare bypass vs service: Place the Vaillant softener in bypass. If pressure improves significantly, the restriction is inside the softener.
- Check valves and hoses: Ensure all service valves are fully open and that any flexible connectors are not kinked.
- Clean strainers: Remove and clean inlet and outlet strainers or filters on the control head.
- Assess resin condition: If the unit is old or has been exposed to sediment, the resin bed may be fouled. A resin replacement or full service may be required.
