Softener frequently trips the electrical circuit breaker or blows fuses

Safety: Do not repeatedly reset breakers without finding the cause. Risk of fire or electric shock.

Steps:

• Inspect for leaks: Check for water dripping onto the control housing or wiring. Repair plumbing leaks first.
• Disconnect motor: With power off, disconnect the drive motor and then re‑energise. If the breaker no longer trips, the motor is likely faulty and should be replaced.
• Check wiring: Look for crushed or abraded cables. Replace damaged harnesses.
• Replace power supply: If an external transformer is used and is warm or noisy, replace it with the correct Vaillant part.
