Excessive Salt Consumption
Softener uses salt very quickly and brine tank empties frequently

Possible Causes
Regeneration frequency set too high, Salt dosage per regeneration set too high, Leaking brine valve allowing continuous brine draw, Incorrect hardness or capacity programming
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Programming changes do not require power isolation, but avoid opening the control housing while powered unless necessary.
Steps:
- Review settings: Enter the programming menu and check hardness, capacity, and regeneration mode. Ensure they match the installation manual and local water hardness.
- Check regeneration count: Look at the history (if available) to see how often the unit regenerates. Excessive regenerations indicate mis‑programming or a leak causing false usage.
- Inspect brine valve: With the unit in service mode, observe the brine line. There should be no continuous flow. If brine is slowly drawn all the time, the brine valve is leaking and should be replaced.
- Adjust salt dose: If your model allows, reduce the salt dose per regeneration to the recommended level for your resin volume and hardness.
