Possible Causes

Failed evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor wire damaged by ice buildup, Loose or oxidized connector at main PCB

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Disconnect the Auseo wine cooler from power before accessing internal components. Sharp metal edges may be present.

Steps to diagnose and fix:

  • Defrost first: If there is heavy ice on the back wall, leave the door open and unplug the unit for several hours to melt ice. Place towels to catch water.
  • Access evaporator area: Remove the interior rear panel (usually held by screws) to expose the evaporator coil and fan. The evaporator sensor is typically clipped to the coil or attached nearby with a metal clip or plastic holder.
  • Inspect the sensor: Look for broken insulation, corrosion, or a sensor that has come loose from the coil. Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the evaporator surface.
  • Check continuity: Disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to the cabinet sensor if available; values should be similar at the same temperature. An open or shorted reading indicates failure.
  • Replace sensor: If faulty, install a new evaporator NTC temperature sensor designed for Auseo wine coolers. Clip it securely to the evaporator coil in the same location as the original.
  • Reconnect and test: Reinstall the interior panel, plug the unit back in, and confirm that the E1 code clears and the temperature display stabilizes.

Note: Persistent E1 with a known-good sensor may indicate a defective main control board.
