Possible Causes

Overheating compressor due to poor ventilation, Failing compressor motor, Blocked condenser coil, Faulty overload protector

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety warning: Unplug the wine cooler before cleaning or touching the compressor area. Components may be hot.

Steps:

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the cooler per Auseo installation guidelines (typically several inches at sides and rear). Remove any obstructions blocking airflow.
  • Clean condenser: Remove the rear lower panel and gently vacuum or brush dust from the condenser coil and fan. A clogged condenser causes overheating.
  • Inspect overload protector: Examine the small device clipped to the compressor. Look for discoloration or burning. If the compressor repeatedly clicks on and off, the overload may be tripping.
  • Allow cooling: Leave the unit unplugged for 30–60 minutes to let the compressor cool, then plug back in and observe operation.
  • Replace overload: If the compressor starts but quickly trips again and the overload tests open when cool, replace the compressor overload protector.

Important: If the compressor draws excessive current or fails to start even with a new overload, the compressor itself may be failing and requires professional replacement.
