Possible Causes
Failed upper or lower zone thermistor, Communication harness issue between zone boards, Faulty secondary (slave) control board, Main control board logic fault
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooler before removing any interior or rear panels.
- Identify affected zone: Note whether the upper, lower, or both zones are misreading temperature or not cooling properly.
- Check zone thermistors: Each zone typically has its own cabinet thermistor. Locate the sensor in the affected zone (on the side or rear wall) and inspect for damage or dislodging.
- Inspect interconnect wiring: Dual-zone Avanti models often have a harness linking the main control board to a secondary board or directly to the second zone components. Check connectors between zones for looseness or corrosion.
- Test thermistor resistance: With power off, disconnect the zone thermistor and measure resistance. Compare upper and lower zone sensors at similar temperatures; they should be similar. Replace any sensor that reads open or shorted.
- Board evaluation: If sensors and wiring are intact, the secondary zone control board (if present) or the main control board may be defective. Replacement typically requires removing the control panel and transferring connectors one by one.
- After replacement: Reassemble, restore power, and verify that E7 clears and both zones respond to setpoint changes.
