Possible Causes
Open cabinet thermistor circuit, Disconnected thermistor plug, Broken thermistor wire, Failed control board sensor input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before inspecting wiring or sensors.
- Confirm cabinet temperature: Use a separate thermometer to verify that the interior is not actually extremely hot. If the display shows HI but the cabinet is cool, the sensor circuit is likely open.
- Inspect thermistor wiring: Locate the cabinet thermistor and follow its wire to the control board. Look for breaks, pinched sections, or a disconnected plug.
- Check connector seating: Ensure the thermistor connector is fully inserted into the control board socket.
- Measure resistance: With the thermistor unplugged from the board, measure resistance across its leads. Infinite resistance indicates an open sensor that must be replaced.
- Replace the thermistor: Install an OEM Avanti cabinet thermistor and secure it properly.
- Control board diagnosis: If the sensor and wiring are good but HI remains, the control board may not be reading the sensor and will require replacement.
