Possible Causes
Open or shorted Peltier module, Poor contact between module and heat sinks, Failed Peltier power supply circuit, Non-functioning hot-side fan
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before disassembly. Peltier modules can get very hot during operation.
- Access the Peltier assembly: Remove the rear panel to expose the Peltier module sandwiched between two heat sinks and fans.
- Check fans: Ensure both hot-side and cold-side fans spin freely and operate when the unit is on. Replace any failed fan motors.
- Inspect module and mounting: Look for cracks in the ceramic Peltier module or signs of overheating. Ensure mounting screws are snug and thermal paste is present between module and heat sinks.
- Electrical test: With power off, disconnect the module and measure resistance across its leads. An open circuit or very low resistance indicates a bad module.
- Replace Peltier module: Install an OEM Avanti Peltier module. Clean old thermal compound and apply a thin, even layer of new thermal paste on both sides before reassembly.
- Check power supply: If a new module does not heat/cool, the Peltier power circuit on the control board may be faulty and require board replacement.
