Possible Causes
Stuck relay on control board, Shorted cabinet thermistor, Faulty thermostat setting knob (mechanical models), Sensor positioned too close to evaporator
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the cooler before accessing sensors or the control board.
- Verify set temperature: Confirm the setpoint is not at the coldest setting. Adjust to a higher temperature and monitor.
- Check actual temperature: Place a thermometer inside to confirm the true cabinet temperature.
- Inspect cabinet thermistor placement: Ensure the sensor is not touching the evaporator or in direct cold airflow, which can cause the control to overcool.
- Test thermistor: With power off, measure resistance and compare to expected values. A shorted thermistor will read very low resistance and cause the unit to run excessively.
- Replace faulty sensor or thermostat: Install an OEM Avanti cabinet thermistor or mechanical thermostat as appropriate for your model.
- Control board relay check: If the compressor or Peltier module runs continuously even when the setpoint is reached and the sensor is good, the cooling relay on the control board may be stuck closed. Replace the main control board.
