Possible Causes

Failed compressor start relay or PTC, Open overload protector, Locked or seized compressor, Faulty main control board compressor relay

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the unit. Work only if you are comfortable around mains voltage and sealed refrigeration systems. Do not open the sealed system.

  • Access compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower service panel to expose the compressor, start device, and wiring.
  • Check for overheating: Carefully touch the compressor shell (after power off). Extremely hot surface may indicate a locked rotor or failed start device.
  • Inspect start relay/PTC: Remove the plastic cover on the compressor terminals. Check the PTC relay and overload for burn marks, rattling pieces, or melted plastic.
  • Test start device: Use a multimeter to check continuity of the overload and appropriate resistance of the PTC. Replace the start relay/overload assembly if defective with a Beko-specified part.
  • Compressor evaluation: If a new start device does not resolve the issue and the compressor hums then clicks off, the compressor may be mechanically seized and require replacement by a refrigeration technician.
  • Control board: If the compressor never receives power, test the output from the main PCB (live testing should only be done by qualified personnel). Replace the board if the compressor relay is faulty.
