Display shows E6 and the internal fan does not run or runs intermittently, causing uneven temperatures.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before working inside the cabinet or rear compartment.
Steps to diagnose and fix:
- Listen for fan operation: With the door closed and unit powered (before unplugging), listen for the evaporator fan running. If silent, proceed with inspection.
- Access the fan: Remove interior shelves and the rear inner panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly in the affected zone.
- Check for obstructions: Look for ice buildup, loose wires, or packaging material blocking the fan blades. Clear any obstructions and fully defrost ice with the unit unplugged and doors open.
- Spin test: Gently spin the fan blades by hand. If they are stiff or seized, the motor is likely bad and needs replacement.
- Electrical test: With the fan connector unplugged, measure motor resistance. An open circuit or very high resistance indicates a failed motor. Also check for 12–24 VDC (depending on model) at the fan connector when the unit is calling for cooling (only if you are trained to work with live circuits).
- Replace the fan motor: Install a compatible BODEGA evaporator fan motor assembly. Transfer the fan blade if necessary and ensure correct airflow direction.
When to call a professional: If the fan tests good but no voltage is supplied from the board, the main PCB may need replacement by a technician.
