Display shows EC and the unit is not cooling properly or at all.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Unplug the unit before cleaning or inspecting internal components. Do not attempt to open sealed refrigerant lines.
Steps to diagnose and mitigate:
- Check ambient conditions: Ensure the wine cooler is installed in an environment within BODEGA's specified temperature range and away from direct sunlight or heat sources.
- Clean condenser coil: Remove the rear lower panel and use a soft brush and vacuum to clean dust from the condenser coil. Poor airflow can trigger EC by causing high temperatures and poor cooling.
- Verify fan operation: Confirm that both evaporator and condenser fans run when the compressor is on. Replace any failed fan motors (see E6 and E7).
- Check door seal: Inspect the door gasket for gaps or damage. Warm air infiltration can cause the unit to run continuously and trigger EC. Replace the gasket if it does not seal evenly.
- Monitor compressor: After cleaning and checks, plug the unit in and listen for the compressor. If it runs continuously but cooling is minimal, a sealed system issue (refrigerant leak or weak compressor) is likely.
When to call a professional: Sealed system repairs require specialized tools and EPA-certified technicians. If EC persists after basic maintenance, contact professional service.
