Possible Causes

Defective evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor dislodged from evaporator coil, Damaged sensor wiring harness, Faulty main PCB sensor input

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance before removing rear or internal panels.

  • Locate the evaporator sensor: It is usually clipped directly to the evaporator coil behind the internal rear panel or foam insulation. Remove internal shelves and the rear liner panel.
  • Check sensor position: Ensure the sensor probe is firmly attached to the evaporator coil and not hanging loose. Reclip or secure with aluminum tape if necessary.
  • Inspect wiring: Look for chafed insulation, broken wires, or signs of moisture damage along the harness route to the control board.
  • Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor from the PCB and measure resistance at room temperature. Compare to the cabinet sensor if identical type; large deviation or open/short indicates a bad sensor.
  • Replace if defective: Order a "Candy evaporator NTC sensor" for your exact model. Install in the same location and ensure good thermal contact with the coil.
  • If sensor is good: The main PCB may misread the sensor. Inspect the board and replace the "Main control board (PCB)" if no wiring issues are found.
