Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice buildup blocking fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before accessing internal fan components.
- Access the fan: Remove internal shelves and the rear liner panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
- Check for ice: Look for heavy frost or ice blocking the fan. If present, leave the door open and unplugged for 12–24 hours to fully defrost, protecting the floor from water.
- Spin the fan by hand: It should rotate freely without grinding. If stiff or noisy, the "Evaporator fan motor" is likely failing.
- Inspect wiring: Ensure the fan connector is firmly seated on the PCB or local harness. Look for burnt or discolored wires.
- Test fan voltage (advanced): With the unit powered and calling for cooling, measure voltage at the fan connector (use caution, live voltage). If correct voltage is present but the fan does not run, replace the fan motor.
- Replace fan: Install a compatible "Candy evaporator fan motor" and reassemble panels, ensuring no wires contact the fan blades.
- If no voltage at fan: Suspect a PCB fault or broken harness. Repair wiring or replace the "Main control board (PCB)".
