Possible Causes

Faulty compressor inverter module (on inverter models), Open or shorted compressor windings, Damaged wiring between PCB and compressor, Main PCB compressor relay failure (on non-inverter models)

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the appliance. Compressor circuits carry mains voltage.

  • Listen for compressor: When powered, check if the compressor attempts to start (clicking or humming). If completely silent with E8, suspect control or inverter issues.
  • Inspect wiring: Remove rear panel and check harness from main PCB to compressor or inverter module. Look for burnt connectors or loose plugs.
  • Check compressor windings (advanced): With power off and start components removed, measure resistance between compressor terminals. All combinations should show low but finite resistance and no continuity to ground. A short to ground or open winding indicates a bad compressor.
  • Inverter models: If the compressor tests good, the "Inverter module" may be faulty. Replace it with a compatible Candy part.
  • Relay models: If using a mechanical relay, inspect the relay on the main PCB for burning or pitting. Replace the "Main control board (PCB)" if the relay is defective.
  • Compressor failure: If windings are faulty, compressor replacement is required and should be done by a certified refrigeration technician.
