Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before removing rear panels.
Procedure:
- Locate ambient sensor: On many Cavin wine coolers, the ambient sensor is clipped near the condenser coil or air intake at the rear or bottom of the unit. Look for a small probe with two thin wires.
- Visual inspection: Check that the sensor is firmly clipped in place and not touching hot compressor lines. Inspect the wire for cuts, abrasions, or rodent damage.
- Connector check: Trace the sensor wires to the main control board. Reseat the connector and ensure it is fully engaged.
- Resistance test: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure resistance. Compare to typical NTC values or to another known-good sensor if available. An open or shorted reading indicates failure.
Repair: Replace the ambient temperature sensor if it tests bad or is physically damaged. Reclip it in the original location so it accurately senses room temperature, away from direct heat sources.
