E8 error and the unit is excessively cold or fails to reach set temperature properly
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing internal components.
Steps:
- Verify actual temperature: Place a reliable thermometer in the compartment and compare to the set and displayed temperatures.
- Sensor connection check: Access the main PCB and reseat all temperature sensor connectors (upper, lower, ambient). Ensure they are in the correct sockets.
- Inspect sensors: Check that each sensor probe is properly mounted and not dangling or pressed directly against the evaporator.
- Factory reset (if available): Some Cavin models allow a control reset via a button combination (consult the user manual). Perform a reset to clear calibration errors.
Repair: If E8 persists and sensor wiring is intact, the main control board may have a calibration or ADC fault and will need replacement. Replace any sensor that tests out of normal resistance range for the measured temperature.
