Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Always unplug the unit before removing panels. For basic checks like door seal, you can leave it plugged in.
Steps:
- Door and gasket check: Ensure the door closes fully and the gasket makes uniform contact around the frame. Look for gaps, tears, or warped areas.
- Obstruction removal: Make sure bottles are not preventing the door from closing or blocking internal air vents.
- Fan operation: With the door closed and unit running, listen for the upper evaporator fan. If silent, follow the fan diagnostic steps (see E4) and inspect for ice buildup or a failed motor.
- Condenser cleaning: Clean dust from the rear condenser grille to improve cooling efficiency.
Repair: Replace a failed upper evaporator fan motor or damaged door gasket as needed. If the compressor runs continuously but the upper zone never cools, a sealed system issue (refrigerant leak or restriction) is likely and requires a professional technician.
