Unit cycles on and off very frequently (short cycling)

Safety first: Unplug the unit before moving sensors or accessing the control board.

Steps:

• Ambient vs setpoint: Ensure the set temperature is not very close to room temperature, which can cause frequent cycling.
• Sensor placement: Confirm the sensor is not directly in the cold air stream or touching the evaporator, which can cause rapid temperature swings at the sensor.
• Power reset: Reset the control to clear any software glitches.

Repair: Replace a faulty sensor that responds too quickly or erratically. If short cycling persists, the main control board may need replacement to correct hysteresis behavior.
