Possible Causes

Faulty cabinet thermistor reading too low, Control board miscalibration, Stuck relay keeping compressor on too long, Incorrect sensor placement touching evaporator

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the cooler before adjusting sensors or accessing the control board.

Steps to address E9:

  • Check set temperature: Ensure the setpoint is within the normal wine storage range (typically 40–65°F). Extremely low settings can trigger protection on some models.
  • Inspect cabinet sensor placement: Locate the cabinet thermistor inside the unit. Make sure it is not touching the evaporator cover or any very cold surface; it should sense air temperature, not coil temperature.
  • Test the cabinet thermistor: With power disconnected, measure resistance and compare to expected values. Replace the sensor if readings are out of range.
  • Check for control board issues: If the sensor is good and properly placed, the control board may be misreading temperature or the compressor relay may be sticking closed. Inspect the board for damage and replace if necessary.
  • Reset the unit: After any changes, unplug for 5–10 minutes, then restore power and monitor operation.

Note: Persistent E9 errors with correct temperatures may require factory calibration or board replacement by a qualified technician.
