Possible Causes
Thermistor located too close to evaporator, Control board hysteresis too narrow, Oversized compressor for cabinet volume, Ambient temperature fluctuations
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before adjusting sensor placement.
Steps:
- Monitor cycle times: Note how long the compressor runs and rests. Very short cycles (e.g., 1–3 minutes) are undesirable.
- Relocate thermistor slightly: If the sensor is very close to the evaporator cover or fan outlet, reposition it slightly to sense average cabinet air temperature.
- Check ambient conditions: Avoid placing the cooler in areas with rapid temperature swings (near ovens, windows, or HVAC vents).
- Control board replacement: If short cycling persists and sensor placement is correct, the control board may have an overly tight hysteresis or fault and may need replacement.
Note: Chronic short cycling can shorten compressor life; address promptly.
