Possible Causes

Door left open, Misaligned door or sagging hinges, Failed magnetic reed switch or door switch, Loose door switch wiring to control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: This fault is generally low risk, but unplug the unit before removing any trim to access switches.

  • Confirm door closure: Make sure no racks or bottles are preventing the door from closing fully. Gently push the door closed and see if the code clears.
  • Inspect gasket and hinges: Check that the door gasket is intact and the door is level. Adjust hinges if the door is sagging and not making full contact with the cabinet.
  • Locate door switch: On many GE Profile wine coolers, a magnetic reed switch is hidden in the cabinet frame and a magnet is embedded in the door. Others use a plunger‑style switch.
  • Test switch: If accessible, disconnect the switch and test continuity with a multimeter while opening and closing the door (or moving a magnet near a reed switch). Replace the switch if it does not change state.
  • Check wiring: Ensure the switch harness is firmly connected to the main control board and not damaged.
