Possible Causes
Loose ribbon cable between display board and main control board, Failed touchpad or display PCB, Moisture intrusion into control panel, Faulty main control board
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before removing the control panel or display assembly.
- Access control panel: Remove any trim screws around the display/control area on the door or front of the cabinet. Carefully pull the panel forward.
- Inspect ribbon cable: Check the flat ribbon cable or harness connecting the user interface board to the main control board. Ensure it is fully seated and not kinked or damaged.
- Dry moisture: If there are signs of condensation or liquid inside the control area, gently dry with a lint‑free cloth. Allow the panel to air dry completely before reassembly.
- Check for corrosion: Examine connectors and the display PCB for corrosion or burnt components. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with contact cleaner; heavy damage requires board replacement.
- Replace interface board: If buttons remain unresponsive and E6 persists after reseating cables, replace the user interface/display board with a GE‑approved part.
- Control board: If a new interface board does not resolve the issue, the main control board is likely at fault and should be replaced.
