How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before defrosting or accessing internal components. Do not use sharp tools to remove ice.
- Manual defrost: Turn off and unplug the wine cooler. Open the door and allow all ice to melt. Place towels to catch water.
- Inspect gasket: After defrosting, check the door gasket for gaps or tears. Replace if not sealing properly.
- Access evaporator: Remove the interior rear panel to expose the evaporator coil, defrost heater, and thermistor.
- Test heater: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the heater leads and measure resistance. Replace the heater if open.
- Test defrost thermistor: Measure resistance and compare to GE specs. Replace if out of range.
- Control board: If heater and thermistor are good but frost returns quickly, the defrost control on the main board may be faulty and require replacement.
