Possible Causes

Open or shorted cabinet NTC sensor, Damaged sensor wiring harness to main PCB, Corroded connector at sensor or PCB, Failed main control board temperature input circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety first: Unplug the wine cooler from the mains before removing panels or touching wiring. Use insulated tools and avoid working on live circuits.

  • Power reset: Disconnect power for 5–10 minutes, then reconnect. If E1 returns, continue with checks.
  • Locate the cabinet NTC sensor: On most Gorenje wine coolers, the cabinet temperature sensor is clipped to the evaporator cover or mounted on the rear interior wall behind a small plastic cover. Remove interior shelves and the plastic cover carefully.
  • Inspect the sensor and wiring: Look for broken insulation, pinched wires, or corrosion at the connector. Reseat the connector to the sensor and to the main PCB (usually behind the rear service panel).
  • Measure sensor resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the harness and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature (~25°C), most NTC sensors should read between 5–20 kΩ (check Gorenje service data if available). If the reading is open (OL) or near 0 Ω, the sensor is faulty.
  • Check continuity of harness: Measure continuity from the sensor connector to the PCB connector. Repair or replace any damaged wiring.
  • Replace the sensor: If resistance is out of spec, install a new Gorenje-compatible cabinet NTC sensor, route the lead away from sharp edges, and secure it in the original clip or bracket.
  • Test operation: Restore power, clear the error by power-cycling, and monitor temperature and display for at least 30–60 minutes.
