Possible Causes
Failed ambient NTC sensor near front grille or control panel, Disconnected or pinched sensor wiring, Corroded connector at control PCB, Faulty PCB sensor input circuit
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect the wine cooler from power before accessing the control panel or base area.
- Locate ambient sensor: On many Gorenje wine coolers, the ambient sensor is positioned near the front kick plate, air intake, or behind the control panel to sense room temperature.
- Visual inspection: Remove the front grille or control panel trim as needed. Look for a small probe or plastic-encased sensor with two wires. Check for damage, kinks, or signs of overheating.
- Check connections: Reseat the connector on the main PCB. Clean any oxidation with contact cleaner and allow to dry.
- Measure resistance: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor and measure its resistance at room temperature. Compare to the expected NTC value. Replace if open, shorted, or clearly out of spec.
- Replace sensor if needed: Install a Gorenje-compatible ambient NTC sensor, routing the cable away from moving parts and hot components.
- Reassemble and test: Refit panels, restore power, and confirm that E3 disappears and the unit responds correctly to room temperature changes.
