Possible Causes
Failed evaporator fan motor, Ice buildup blocking fan blades, Loose or damaged fan wiring, Faulty fan driver circuit on main PCB
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Disconnect power before working inside the cabinet. Fan blades and metal edges can be sharp.
- Access the fan: Remove shelves and the rear interior panel to expose the evaporator fan assembly.
- Check for ice obstruction: Look for ice or frost around the fan. If present, fully defrost the unit by leaving it unplugged with the door open until all ice melts. Do not chip ice with tools.
- Inspect fan blades and motor: Spin the fan by hand. It should move freely without grinding. If stiff or seized, the motor is likely faulty.
- Verify wiring: Check the fan connector and harness for loose connections or damage. Reseat the connector at the fan and PCB.
- Test fan voltage: With the unit powered and great caution, measure DC or AC voltage (as specified for your model) at the fan connector when the fan should be running. If correct voltage is present but the fan does not turn, replace the fan motor. If no voltage, suspect the PCB.
- Replace fan motor: Remove mounting screws, swap in a Gorenje-compatible evaporator fan motor, and reassemble.
- Test: Restore power and confirm that E6 clears and airflow is restored.
