How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before accessing the compressor area.
- Check room temperature and ventilation: Ensure the unit is not in a very hot, confined space. Improve airflow around the rear.
- Inspect start relay and overload: Remove the compressor terminal cover and check the start device for burn marks or rattling pieces. Replace with a Hotpoint-compatible part if suspect.
- Allow compressor to cool: Leave the unit unplugged for at least 30 minutes, then try again.
- If clicking continues with new start device: The compressor may be failing internally. A licensed technician should test and, if necessary, replace the compressor.
