Possible Causes
Shorted NTC sensor (any zone), Sensor wires shorted to cabinet, Water ingress into sensor connector, Damaged control board input
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the appliance before testing sensors.
- Identify affected sensor: Refer to the service manual or wiring diagram to see which sensor triggers E15 on your model (cabinet, evaporator, or zone-specific).
- Inspect sensor wiring: Look for crushed or rubbed-through insulation where the sensor cable passes through metal or foam.
- Disconnect sensor: At the control board, unplug the suspected sensor. Measure resistance across the sensor leads. A reading near 0 Ω indicates a shorted sensor.
- Replace shorted sensor: Install a genuine Hotpoint NTC sensor and route the cable to avoid sharp edges and moisture.
- Check connectors for moisture: Dry any damp connectors thoroughly and correct the source of condensation or leaks.
- If E15 persists with new sensor: The control board input may be shorted internally and require replacement.
