Possible Causes

Loose ribbon cable between display and main PCB, Moisture ingress into touch panel, Failed user interface board, Faulty main control board communication circuit

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Disconnect mains power before opening the control panel.

  • Dry the control area: If condensation or liquid has contacted the display, leave the unit unplugged with the door open for several hours to dry.
  • Access the control panel: Remove the screws securing the top/front trim to expose the display and keypad assembly.
  • Check ribbon cable: Carefully disconnect and reconnect the flat ribbon cable between the display and main board. Ensure it is fully seated and not damaged.
  • Inspect for corrosion: Look for green/white corrosion on connectors or the display PCB. Light corrosion can sometimes be cleaned with isopropyl alcohol and a soft brush.
  • Test buttons: With power restored briefly, test each button or touch area. If some do not respond, the user interface board is likely faulty.
  • Replace user interface board: Install a Hotpoint-compatible display/keypad module. Transfer any mounting brackets or seals from the old part.
  • If E9 persists with a new UI: The main control board may have a communication fault and should be evaluated by a technician.
