How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before accessing the compressor compartment.
- Listen and feel: Plug in briefly and listen for any compressor hum or click. If silent, unplug and proceed.
- Check rear ventilation: Ensure the rear grille is not blocked and the unit is not overheating.
- Access compressor: Remove the rear lower panel. Inspect the compressor start relay and overload for burn marks or melted plastic.
- Test start relay and overload: With a multimeter, check continuity. Replace any open or visibly damaged components with Hotpoint-compatible parts.
- Inspect wiring: Verify that all wires to the compressor and control board are secure and not broken.
- If compressor still does not start: The main control board may not be supplying power, or the compressor may be failed. Further diagnosis and sealed-system work should be done by a licensed technician.
