Possible Causes
Failed zone thermistor, Faulty zone damper or fan, Control board not energizing zone circuit, Refrigerant distribution issue in multi-evaporator system
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing interior panels or wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Compare zones: Use thermometers in both zones to confirm the temperature difference.
- 2. Check zone fan/damper: In the warm zone, remove the rear interior panel and verify that the zone fan runs and any air damper opens when cooling is called for.
- 3. Test zone thermistor: Measure resistance of the warm zone's temperature sensor and compare to the cool zone's sensor at similar temperatures. Replace the faulty sensor if readings differ significantly.
- 4. Inspect wiring and control board: Ensure the zone's fan and sensor wiring are intact and connected to the main board. If the board is not powering the fan or compressor circuit for that zone, the board may be defective.
- 5. Professional diagnosis: If both fans and sensors are good but one zone still does not cool, a complex sealed system issue may exist and should be evaluated by a refrigeration technician.
