Wine cooler shows E2 and the unit may overcool, undercool, or cycle erratically.
Safety Warning
This repair may involve working with high voltage components or water connections. Always unplug the appliance before removing any panels.
If you are not confident in your ability to perform this repair safely, we strongly recommend contacting a professional technician.
Possible Causes
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety warning: Disconnect power before removing rear or interior panels. Sharp metal edges can cause injury; wear cut-resistant gloves.
Steps:
- 1. Confirm the error: Note whether E2 appears immediately at power-on or only after running for a while. Persistent E2 usually indicates a sensor or wiring fault.
- 2. Access the evaporator area: Remove interior shelves and the rear interior panel inside the cooled compartment. The evaporator coil and its sensor will be behind this panel.
- 3. Locate the evaporator thermistor: It is typically clipped to the evaporator tubing or embedded in a small plastic holder attached to the coil, with two wires leading to the control board.
- 4. Inspect placement and condition: Ensure the sensor is firmly attached to the coil and not hanging loose. Check for ice buildup that may have pulled the sensor away or damaged the wires.
- 5. Electrical test: With the unit unplugged, disconnect the sensor from the control board and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare the reading to the expected NTC value at the current temperature (often 5k–10k ohms at 77°F / 25°C). Replace the sensor if it reads open, shorted, or far out of range.
- 6. Replace if needed: Install a new evaporator temperature sensor compatible with your Kalamera model. Clip it securely to the evaporator coil in the same location as the original to ensure accurate defrost and cooling control.
- 7. Reassemble and test: Reinstall the interior panel and shelves. Restore power and verify that the E2 code clears and that the unit cools normally.
Note: If the sensor and wiring test good, the control board may not be interpreting the sensor signal correctly and may require replacement.
