Possible Causes

Failed ambient thermistor, Sensor knocked loose from mounting location, Damaged harness between sensor and control board, Defective main control board

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Safety: Unplug the wine cooler before accessing any rear or side panels.

Steps:

  • 1. Identify sensor location: On many Kalamera wine coolers, the ambient sensor is located near the front grille, side wall, or rear of the cabinet where it can sense room temperature. It may be behind a small vent or grille.
  • 2. Inspect wiring: Remove the lower front grille or rear access panel as needed. Look for a small two-wire sensor harness leading to the control board. Check for cuts, abrasions, or loose connectors.
  • 3. Test the sensor: Disconnect the sensor from the control board and measure resistance with a multimeter. At room temperature, it should read within the expected NTC range (commonly 5k–10k ohms at 77°F / 25°C). If it reads open or shorted, replace it.
  • 4. Replace the ambient sensor: Install a new ambient temperature sensor designed for your Kalamera model. Mount it in the same location and orientation as the original so it accurately senses room temperature.
  • 5. Reset and test: Reconnect the harness, reassemble panels, and plug the unit back in. Confirm that the E3 code clears and that the cooler responds appropriately to changes in room temperature.

Tip: Avoid placing the cooler in direct sunlight or near heat sources, as this can confuse the ambient sensor and cause erratic operation even when the sensor is good.
