Possible Causes
Corrupted control board firmware, Failed EEPROM or microcontroller, Power surge damage to control board, Loose control board connectors
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Always unplug the wine cooler before accessing the control board or wiring.
Steps:
- 1. Power cycle: Unplug the unit for at least 10 minutes to allow capacitors to discharge. Plug it back in and see if E5 clears. If it returns immediately, proceed to inspection.
- 2. Access control board: Remove the rear lower access panel (or top panel on some built-in models) to expose the main control board enclosure.
- 3. Inspect for damage: Look for burn marks, bulging capacitors, or a burnt smell on the control board. Check that all harness connectors are fully seated and that no pins are bent or corroded.
- 4. Check supply voltage: With the unit unplugged, verify the outlet voltage with a multimeter (typically 110–120 VAC in North America). Avoid using extension cords or power strips that can cause voltage drops.
- 5. Reseat connectors: One by one, unplug and firmly reconnect each harness on the control board to ensure good contact. Do not force connectors; align them carefully.
- 6. Replace control board if needed: If E5 persists and there is evidence of board failure, order a replacement main control board specified for your Kalamera model. Transfer any wiring harnesses one at a time from the old board to the new board to avoid miswiring.
- 7. Test operation: Reinstall the access panel, restore power, and confirm that the E5 code is gone and that cooling, fans, and lights operate normally.
Warning: If you are not comfortable working around line voltage and electronic boards, contact a qualified appliance technician.
