Possible Causes
Compressor not running, Condenser fan failure, Blocked condenser ventilation, Refrigerant leak or sealed system failure
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before removing rear panels. Do not attempt sealed system repairs (refrigerant) unless you are a licensed technician.
Steps:
- 1. Check door seal and usage: Ensure the door is fully closing and not being left open. High ambient temperatures or frequent door openings can trigger H1 temporarily.
- 2. Verify compressor and fan operation: With the unit plugged in and calling for cooling, listen at the back. You should hear the compressor humming and the condenser fan running. If both are silent, suspect a control or compressor start issue.
- 3. Inspect condenser area: Unplug the unit and remove the rear lower panel. Clean dust and lint from the condenser coils and fan using a soft brush and vacuum. Ensure there is at least a few inches of clearance around the cooler for airflow.
- 4. Check condenser fan: Spin the fan blade by hand (with power off). It should move freely. If seized or noisy, replace the condenser fan motor.
- 5. Restart and monitor: Plug the unit back in and allow several hours for temperature to drop. If H1 persists and the compressor is running but the cabinet does not cool, there may be a refrigerant leak or compressor problem.
- 6. Call a professional for sealed system issues: If the compressor runs continuously, the condenser is clean, and the unit still does not cool, contact a licensed refrigeration technician to check for low refrigerant or a failed compressor.
