Possible Causes
Faulty cabinet thermistor reading too warm, Stuck compressor relay on control board, Incorrect sensor placement, Control board calibration error
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before accessing sensors or the control board.
Steps:
- 1. Verify with a thermometer: Place an accurate thermometer inside the cabinet and compare to the display. If the actual temperature is much lower, the sensor or control is misreading.
- 2. Inspect cabinet thermistor: Locate the interior temperature sensor on the rear wall. Ensure it is not touching the evaporator directly or positioned in a cold air stream that could skew readings.
- 3. Test thermistor: Disconnect and measure resistance with a multimeter. Compare to expected NTC values at the measured temperature. Replace if out of range.
- 4. Check control board relay: If the compressor runs almost constantly even when the setpoint is reached, the compressor relay on the main board may be stuck closed. Replace the main control board if confirmed.
- 5. Adjust setpoint and monitor: Temporarily raise the set temperature and observe whether the compressor cycles off. If not, control board replacement is likely required.
