Possible Causes
Misreading evaporator NTC sensor, Sensor not properly attached to evaporator, Wiring harness partially broken causing intermittent readings
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety first: Disconnect power before accessing the evaporator area.
Steps:
- 1. Access evaporator: Remove interior rear panel to expose the evaporator and attached sensor.
- 2. Check sensor mounting: Ensure the sensor is firmly clipped to the evaporator tube and has good thermal contact.
- 3. Inspect wiring: Flex the harness gently while checking for visible cracks or kinks that could cause intermittent contact.
- 4. Test sensor: Measure resistance and compare with cabinet sensor or manufacturer data.
- 5. Replace sensor: If readings are unstable or out of range, install a new Liebherr evaporator NTC sensor.
Note: If E4 persists with a known-good sensor, the control board's sensor input may be defective.
