How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Warning: This area carries mains voltage. Unplug the cooler before touching the compressor or its wiring. Do not bypass safety devices.
E3 often points to a problem in the compressor start circuit.
- Access the compressor compartment: Remove the rear lower service panel to expose the compressor, start relay, and overload protector.
- Inspect components: Look for melted plastic on the start relay, discoloration, or a burnt smell. Check that the overload protector is firmly attached to the compressor terminal.
- Check wiring: Ensure all spade connectors are tight on the relay and overload. Repair or replace any burned or loose connectors.
- Replace start components: If the relay rattles when shaken, is cracked, or shows signs of overheating, replace it with a compatible Luma compressor start relay and overload kit.
- Test run: Reinstall the rear panel, plug the unit in, and listen for the compressor to start within a minute. Monitor for abnormal noises or repeated clicking.
If the compressor hums briefly then clicks off even with new start components, the compressor itself may be locked and require professional replacement.
