Possible Causes

Blocked condenser airflow, Failed condenser fan motor, Dirty condenser coils, Overheating control board or power module

How to Fix / Troubleshooting

Unplug the unit and pull it away from the wall before servicing. Allow hot components to cool before touching.

E5 indicates the system has detected an overheat condition and is protecting itself.

  • Check ventilation: Ensure there is adequate clearance around the sides, back, and top of the cooler per the Luma installation manual. Remove any items blocking the rear grille.
  • Clean condenser coils: Remove the rear lower panel and use a soft brush and vacuum to clean dust from the condenser coils and surrounding area.
  • Verify condenser fan operation: With the panel off, briefly plug in the unit and observe the condenser fan. If it does not start when the compressor runs, replace the Luma condenser fan motor.
  • Inspect control board: Look for burn marks or swollen components on the power/control board. If present, the board may be overheating and require replacement.
  • Reset: After cleaning and repairs, unplug for 5 minutes, then restore power and monitor for recurrence of E5.

Persistent E5 after airflow and fan issues are corrected may indicate a failing compressor or power module and should be evaluated by a technician.
