Possible Causes
Warped or torn door gasket, Misaligned door hinges, Obstruction between door and cabinet
How to Fix / Troubleshooting
Safety: Unplug the unit before adjusting hinges or replacing the gasket to avoid accidental fan or compressor operation.
Steps to improve door sealing:
- Inspect gasket: Check the entire perimeter of the NewAir door gasket for tears, hard spots, or areas that do not contact the cabinet.
- Clean gasket and frame: Wipe with warm soapy water to remove dirt and sticky residues that can prevent sealing.
- Check for obstructions: Ensure shelves or bottles are not protruding and preventing full closure.
- Adjust hinges: If the door is sagging, slightly loosen the hinge screws, lift the door into proper alignment, and retighten. Verify that the door closes evenly.
- Warm and reshape gasket: Use a hair dryer on low to gently warm warped sections of the gasket, then press them against the cabinet to reshape. Do not overheat.
- Replace gasket if necessary: If the gasket is damaged or cannot be reshaped, remove it and install a new NewAir door gasket designed for your model.
Test: Close the door on a strip of paper at several points around the frame. You should feel resistance when pulling the paper out if the seal is good.
